Bryant Street
The Brief
The existing house had to be transformed into a five-bedroom house, that could be rented to students and tourists visiting Cape Town. Shared spaces were to be created for common use, with an outdoor space. The existing rock feature had to be incorporated in to the design.
The Concept
The ground floor space has been transformed into a common living area, with a kitchen and dining room opening to an outdoor court. The remaining space on the ground floor was converted into two bedrooms and a shared bathroom. Three other bedrooms and a second bathroom were designed on the first floor. An elevated deck was built above the existing rock, extending the outdoor space further.
The entire new layout with accommodation of 5 bedrooms two bathrooms and living spaces were fitted into the existing 140m2, over two floors.
