The Brief

The single story existing 1890's Victorian House is placed in one of Cape Town's heritage conservation areas of Tamboerskloof. The extension to this heritage classified house ,needed to be highly sensitive. New pavilion extension was required to extend the house and create a practical flow from the existing house and to a new entertainment pool and court area. The existing house was to be fully renovated in addition to the extension.

The Concept

The pavilion extension takes the form of a contemporary and contrasting addition to the house. Glass tunnel was created to connect the old and the new seamlessly, with a frame less glass structure.

The interiors are brought together from old to new by common interior detailing of steel, timber and glass. All elements are custom designed and made for each specific space from bathrooms living rooms and kitchen. with a common thread that ties them together.
